On August 14, 2021, a 7.2 magnitude earthquake devastated the island of Haiti resulting in many lives lost, injured and destruction of homes; much worse than the earthquake that shook the country in 2010. This devastating event has caused a lot of damage in the south of Haiti, specifically in “Les Cayes”. To aid in the efforts, CHAI, as a non-profit organization partnering with the organization “Gaskov Clergé Foundation” https://www.gaskov.org/ This foundation already has their feet on the ground and is doing outstanding work helping those in desperate need. Also, we are working with the “Chicago Coalition for Haiti Relief 2021” for long term financial help.
CHAI has been in existence for over thirty years, and our focus has always been in helping the poor and the children of northern Haiti, which is why in this moment of such a major catastrophe we are standing with our brothers and sisters in Cayes to provide them with the basic needs.
After all, we are all Haitian and we must stand and support each other, because if we don’t, who will.
